Mini Learners

 My name is Darla Simmons, and I am a lifelong resident of Pilot Mountain, where I live with my husband and daughter. 
I bring a diverse professional background to this role.  After spending 20 years as a coder, I transitioned into the school system to better align with my daughter’s schedule.  I earned a degree in Early Childhood Education and served 10 years as a teacher assistant in both General Education and Exceptional Children classrooms.  While I am no longer in the school system, I continue to enjoy teaching children through my church. I recognize that every child learns differently, and I am dedicated to finding the best approach to help each child succeed. 

Currently, I work as a waitress and am preparing to take online classes to update my Medical Secretary degree.  In my spare time, I enjoy walking, reading, and spending time with my family.
